Migraines and Rebels – Starting to Wrap Things up.

As of Saturday my Rebel Reblochon are now two weeks old.  They are stinky, soft (too soft maybe) and have been washed daily for almost 2 weeks.  The one thing that ARN has in the wash is Ivory Linens.  This will give a nice cream colour to the rind.  I have seen the ivory develop and not the pink/orange of the other linens.  The Geo has been held in check for the most part.   This is a  story about what can happen when you have a blinding migraine and your cheese brain takes over for your regular brain.  So sit back and listen to the amazing tale of craziness of my weekend….

Saturday started with me attending the Annual Ceremonial Review of a Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps that I had previously had the pleasure of commanding, then on the way home I started to get a headache, well the start of a migraine to be exact.  I called Leslie and Alex from Smoky Valley Artisan Cheese to let them know that I wouldn’t be in any condition to go to Market on Sunday.  Then went to bed to try to sleep it off, no this was not a 40 oz. Migraine, it was 5 PM. I woke up in the morning at 8 AM and went downstairs for Fathers Day Festivities still having the migraine.  I went back to bed after lunch, yes I am getting to the cheese.  When I got back up around 3 PM the fog had lifted, my mind was clear, the migraine was downgraded to an annoying headache.  So after looking into the “cave” I saw that my Rebels were wrapped in microcrystalline wrapping papers.  I do not remember wrapping the cheese!  I checked my iPad because I take pictures of everything and there are pictures of the cheese wrapped.  My wife and kids would not have touched the cheese, so who did it?  Cheese Fairies?  Or a wacked-out man in a migraine induced stupor?  Yep!

How can I not remember wrapping these little ones?

I guess there are strange things done in the almost midnight sun.  They will stay wrapped for the next few weeks, I will try one in two weeks and then again at 4 weeks.  Hopefully they will be good.  I hope I did the right thing in my moment of craziness.  Most people have missing time and it involves alien abduction, mine involves cheese maintenance….I need to get out more.

Go make some cheese.
