We the time has come to announce our favourite post for the Feta/Halloumi Challenge for this month. I have to say that the quality of cheeses impressed us greatly. I big pat on the back should go to everyone!
Now to get to the posts as usual just click on the name of the blog to visit the post.
Valerie, of A Canadian Foodie, has selected Rick from Explorations with Sailor Rick – he made goat, sheet, and cow feta as well as Halloumi! He was able to compare the tastes of the feta and he also used flavoured salts to cure the cheese which was absolutely unexpected and a bright idea!
Addie, of The Big Cheese Project, has selected Larry from La Bonne Vie post on Feta cheese. Enjoyed the write up, especially discussing and questioning the significance of lipase, and signifying the differences between feta and chèvre, which was their previous post.
Unfortunately Deb, of Simple Pleasures, was tied up with a move from Edmonton back to her family farm, receiving goats, a computer melt down. so there is no favourite from her this month, but I have read her Mozzarella post so she will be back with a pick next month.
Last but not least is my selection for the month. My favourite post was from Stephanie, of Clockwork Lemon, and her post on Feta. Though she and her mom were late in starting this month’s challenge, I believe she is renoing her house, she was able to draw from the other participants notes on the dreaded feta melt. Also she was nice enough to share her brine recipe so we can avoid the melt too.
Again well done by everyone who attempted to make these cheeses. I am glad that everyone is making cheese and enjoying it too. Even mistakes can be tasty.
Lastly do you want to meet an Artisan Cheese Maker in your area? Then look in the mirror
Go and make some cheese, or at least eat some you enjoy,
