Cheesepalooza – A year in Cheese Making Begins 1 August 2012!

Do you love cheese?  Have you ever wondered how they make it?  It is not as hard as you think!

The time has come to join the cheese revolution my friends, put down that plastic wrapped supermarket cheese, step away from the processed cheese-in-a-can and walk…no run to Cheesepalooza!  Join us in a one year journey of cheese making using Mary Karlin’s “Artisan Cheese Making at Home” and with some input from Mary Karlin herself (when she can, she is currently writing another book).  There will be challenges or “Cheese of the Month” that will be progressive in nature, each building on what you have learned from the cheeses you have made before.

We will be working on fresh cheeses first then moving into ones that require a little aging. “But wait”, you say, “I don’t have a place to age my cheese”. Don’t worry we will give options to help you with where you can age your cheese.  Think it is too expensive?  You will be surprised to know that you have most of the equipment at home already.

  1. Great idea! I’m signing up now. I notice she has a Thermomix! I LOVE MY THERMOMIX! Can’t wait to be part of this! I’ll send the link out to the girls in my nutritionist group and maybe we can get some more joining in. I’ve been teaching a few of them how to make hard cheese.

  2. Just got the book for the Cheezepalooza adventure. Looks great! The pictures are awesome and there is a lot of info in there that I haven’t seen before! Can’t wait to get started on this!

    • That is great. I really like her book. I have been using it for all my makes lately. I love the pictures and that she gives you some variations too.

      • The pictures are awesome. I like that a lot of her recipes are for smaller amounts of milk as well. Most of mine are for 14 litres so these smaller ones will be a good way to experiment. There are recipes in this book I’ve not seen before like the Cheddar-Jalapeno Cheese Curds! It’s 10 p.m. in Ontario and I’m itching to make something!!!!! :0) Have to fight the urge until day break!

        • I know, I like the sizes of the batch, though I regularly work with 14 litres of milk so I have to scale some of them up.
